EveryDay Math 4The math program we use at MNW Elementary is EveryDay Math. Starting with the 2016-2017 school year we are implementing the new version of EveryDay Math 4 (EM4). The lessons and spiraling units are tightly aligned with Iowa Core, and are focused to serve each grade level's goals. We have fun learning math through problem solving, playing games, practicing skills, and using manipulatives. This website provides parents with information and links about EM4, and how you can support mathematics learning at home.

| Number Talks During the 2015-2016 school year our elementary staff learned about number sense and growth mind set during some of our in services. We learned about the importance of number sense with math achievement and conceptual understanding. One important strategy we learned about to instill number sense in children is number talks. They are short (5 - 15 minutes) lessons based around number sense topics. They can be done any time during math class, or throughout the day when you have time to squeeze them in. Examples include: *Choral skip counting *Subitizing *Class problem solving/sharing strategies *Comparing numbers *Using ten frames

| Dreambox Dreambox is a virtual math program that we use to supplement our math instruction. It is grade-level based, but moves with the students at their level, depending on how they are performing on the lessons.
Here is the link for students to play Dreambox. All students have their own usernames and passwords, which can be obtained from their classroom teacher.
