My name is Elaine Merritt! I was born and raised in the Manson area. I am married to Jon Merritt and we have 3 adult children and 1 dog. I love music, camping, dancing and reading. I especially love being a teacher!!!
I graduated from Manson Senior High School in 1979 and then attended Iowa State. There I had a great musical and educational experience. It took me a little longer than 4 years to get through college because I was busy disco dancing and singing with a vocal jazz group on campus. My group had the privilege of traveling with Johnny Orr on behalf of the Alumni Association. It was fun and he was a great man. I graduated the summer of 1983 in Elementary Education. I met my husband at ISU and after we graduated from college we lived in Ankeny, Iowa for one year and then moved to Wichita, Kansas. While in Wichita I taught as an Educational Therapist at a hospital for 7.5 years and then went into the public school system as a Special Education teacher. During that time I attended Wichita State University and received my masters in Educational Psychology. I have been teaching in Special Education and General Education for quite some time.
