Language Arts

The MNW English Department

Words are singularly the most powerful force available to humanity. We can choose to use this force constructively through words of encouragement, or destructively using words of despair. Words have energy and power with the ability to help, to heal, to hinder, to hurt, to harm, to humiliate, and to humble.
-Yehuda Berg

Our Mission
The mission of the MNW Language Arts Department is to provide a wide array of experiences for students. We work to expose our students to a range of communication experiences which include writing, reading, listening, and speaking in order to enable our students to communicate effectively in an ever-changing world.

"If we were handing a bomb which could go off at any minute as a result of our actions, we would mind ourselves and be delicate.  Our words have the same power, yet we wield them as though they were powerless and insignificant." (Yehuda Berg)  We strive every day to remind students of the weight their words carry and to use their language wisely.
