I am originally from Bode, Iowa. I went to and graduated from Twin River Valley in 2010 and went on to Iowa State University. I graduated from ISU in the spring of 2015 with a B.A. in English, B.S. in History, and a minor in American Indian Studies. I have been a part of MNW since 2015.
I am the assistant speech coach and am also the Student Council advisor.
When not teaching or coaching, I like to spend time with my wife, Megan, and our dogs. I also like spending time with family and helping on the farm. My favorite authors include F. Scott Fitzgerald, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Washington Irving.
I currently teach 8th grade and 10th grade Language Arts and two electives - Novels and History through Literacy. Eighth grade English ranges from document reading to research to an array of novels including The Lord of the Flies, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, The Outsiders, and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Sophomores can expect reading non-fiction books in Literature Circles, a research paper, short stories and two novels: To Kill a Mockingbird and Fahrenheit 451. Novels includes The Hounds of the Baskervilles, Frankenstein, Brave New World, and 1984. History through Literacy explores historical topics through the skills gained from Language Arts classes.
