Language Arts

The mission of the MNW Language Arts Department is to provide a wide array of experiences for students. We work to expose our students to a range of communication experiences which include writing, reading, listening, and speaking in order to enable our students to communicate effectively in an ever-changing world.

"If we were handing a bomb which could go off at any minute as a result of our actions, we would mind ourselves and be delicate.  Our words have the same power, yet we wield them as though they were powerless and insignificant." (Yehuda Berg)  We strive every day to remind students of the weight their words carry and to use their language wisely. 

Students will graduate having experienced reading, writing, speaking, and listening with varying levels of difficulty and length. 

Required classes will provide both classic and contemporary texts. Students can expect creative writing, research-based writing, and analytical writing as well. In addition, students can expect to learn the skills to speak in front of others and maintain discussion within a classroom
