MNW Elementary follows the Daily 5 framework with Next Steps in Guided Reading.
Students select from five authentic reading and writing choices, working independently toward personalized goals, while the teacher meets individual needs through whole-group and small-group instruction, as well as one-on-one conferring. These choices include:

Next Steps in Guided Reading is a research-based collection of focused assessments and targeted lessons that can help every student become a better reader. Next Steps in Guided Reading aids teachers implement the essential components of an effective guided reading lesson: targeted assessments, data analysis pinpoints specific strategies students need, and the use of guided writing to support the reading process.
